The Dancer in Beirut

Daniela Meir discovers a secret at her solitary "dreaming place" on Mount Carmel, overlooking the port of Haifa, in 1930's British-ruled Palestine. She vows never to reveal a silent voice that gives her advice or warns of imminent danger. Mature beyond her youthful and energetic nature, she dreams of taking a cargo ship to discover a world far beyond tiny Palestine. And where do they take her?

Swooped up by a suave Czech bachelor, she sails away to find herself tossed against the brutality of Nazi Germany's annexation of the Czech lands. An escape by cargo ship to Africa pits her against Kenya's savage creatures. Soon, she is enveloped by the post-war realities of an ancient Persia struggling to modernise. Longing to return to her new Czech homeland, her world is turned upside down by a Soviet-backed communist coup in Czechoslovakia. She and her young family are now stranded in Persia as stateless refugees.

Her ship of life sails on-and her dance with destiny has barely begun...
