Thoughts from a fellow Writer...
In The Day It Became a Circle, the diction really blew me away. I loved how the subjects were infused with such emotional language and connection. The poems felt even more tender and delicate because I felt like I was reading the author’s most beloved thoughts, and that immersed me into the poetry. I also loved the description of surroundings, the micro-attentions the author pays to the details, in poems such as “The Campground”. The Day It Became a Circle captures humanity in a simple and raw form, yet it contains a nature of substance that allows the audience to melt into each painted picture, to see through the eyes of the author and truly feel something. One of my favorites from the book was definitely “Far from a Shop”, because I think it exhibits this raw form of humanity very well, and addresses a scene that many people have witnessed themselves.
