The Day of the Dragonfly

joe and jeanie bravo are sent on ahead of their parents to carbally, a tiny village on the south coast of ireland, to open their new holiday cottage. pleased at this new independence, the children make friends with the kirwans and look set to have a fun holiday at the beach. when they suddenly lose contact with their father, and their dodgy lodger, dougie, shows up in the middle of the night to “take care of them”, joe begins to realise that something fishy is going on. his suspicions are confirmed when he intercepts a cryptic message on dougie'ss telephone, and danger threatens in the form of a mysterious stranger. when dougie and jeanie are abducted, joe knows he must use everything at his disposal to rescue his little sister and find out what has happened to his father. stolen motorbikes, a forbidden island, uncooperative cattle, foreign lands, incognito princes and a whole cast of local characters are the ingredients for a summer holiday which is anything but relaxing.
