This was my first Anabelle Bryant book and it won't be my last. There are so many thing I want to say about this book but I'm not sure where to start. Lady Vivienne Beaumont is just reentering society after morning her mothers death. Wanting to keep busy she continues her mothers charitable ways. She meets Maxwell Sinclair in a cemetery after being chased by Ransom, Max's protector and constant companion. Something about Max peaks Vivienne's curiosity and she decides he needs to be reformed. Vivienne is a strong if a bit naïve heroine, Max is a tortured soul. Bastard born and raised by a loving mother who demanded his father afford him all the things a real heir would be given. His world was upended when his mother was killed. Max has spent to biggest part of his life consumed with seeking revenge for his mothers murderers. For so many years all that mattered was The Underground and his revenge until he met Vivienne. Knowing he should never touch her, that she's too good for him and way above his station. Vivienne is the first light in his dark world and he wants more, but there's evil all around. Max has to decide what's means more to him Vivienne or revenge?
I know this sounds all jumbled but believe me you need to read this book. It was so good!

kept me turning pages
I found this hard to put down, even read during dinner. Maxwell Sinclair is a third owner of the Underworld gaming hell and has increased his wealth to live above his station in life. His past eats at him as he seeks revenge until he is confronted with Vivienne Beaumont. She captures his attention despite the difference in their standings. He is sexy and protective of her but in denial of his feelings. Vivienne needs a cause to keep herself busy. She is intrigued by Maxwell. I loved her spunk in doing what she felt was the right thing. She also had the strength to go against propriety because she wants to follow her heart. Danger mixed with steamy heat kept me reading, and I look forward to the next book in this series.
