All Alpheus ever wanted was to help those in need.
When he was eight-years-old, he discovered the ability to fly. But stuck in a fundamentalist religious commune which had been isolated in a coastal forest for over one-hundred years, he dared not let his secret be known. 
When catastrophe struck, he blamed himself and his sinful ability. Fleeing the wreckage of his old life, he vowed to never fly again.
Now an anonymous adult in the modern world, Alpheus tries to help people as a social worker. But his comfortable complacency is disrupted when a menace from his past tracks him down. Old mysteries are revealed. New imperatives are born. Unimaginable evil exists, and the only way to stop it is to unearth the trauma connected to his power.
