Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
Private investigator Wyatt West finds his job a little tedious most days, but that changes when he meets a bewitching blonde florist who needs a favor in the way of a wedding date. There's definitely something magical about her, but little does he know just how correct that first impression is.
Single mom Marigold Williams finds herself instantly attracted to Wyatt, but doesn't dare tell this handsome human that she's a witch and things in Nocturne Falls are a little spookier than he suspects. He’s just a nice guy who’s offered to be her plus one. She doesn’t need to turn his world upside down with the truth over one date.
Despite that agreement, their feelings deepen and both agree to try a relationship beyond their current temporary arrangement. Now Marigold must tell him about her witchy side. After all, he has a right to know who he’s dating.
But when Wyatt unwittingly frees some dangerous magic, Marigold knows a life changing sacrifice is the only way to set things right. Will her magic save him? And will he be able to handle the truth that comes with it?
The Detective Wins the Witch
The Detective Wins the Witch by Kristen Painter
Welcome to Nocturne Falls where everyday is Halloween.
10th Book in the series. Can be read as a standalone paranormal romance but you’d miss a lot of fun from knowing all the characters. I would recommend reading at least the first few in the series for the best experience.
Love this town. Love this author. This is one of the best romantic couples. He doesn’t want a relationship yet the next minute he’s falling head over heels in love. He grew up in foster care and doesn’t want that for anyone else. So adorable and so vulnerable. Then he makes all the right moves. Sigh.
“He wanted to hold her hand again. Especially now that she was blushing. The pink in her cheeks was charming beyond description. She was like a drug he knew he should stay away from for his own good, but couldn’t.
So be it. There were much worse things to be addicted to.
Plus, he wanted more. Of her. But that would be leading her on, wouldn’t it? Because this was never going to go anywhere. He was never going to marry her. Which wasn’t anything against her. He was never going to marry anyone. Just like he was never going to have kids. The world had too many of those already and not enough families for them all.”

The detective detects a witch
Well, Kristen did it again! This was another amazing addition to the series. It was so nice to get Marigold’s book. I just love her and her family. We get a great scene with Alice. I love how the author always includes a lot of the characters we’ve already read about. Wyatt was nice and hunky. There was also some really funny parts. This series is always so inspirational for me. I just feel so happy and upbeat when I read them. The last scene is my favorite. It was so clever to think of one of the lines the heroine uses.
