“Every James Rollins delivers mach-speed mayhem; throat-clutching suspense; high-style adventure; and a terrific story told terrifically. He makes the rest us look bad.”
—Steve Berry, author of The Emperor’s Tomb
“This guy doesn’t write novels—he builds roller coasters.”
New York Times bestselling thrill-master James Rollins is back with The Devil Colony, another electrifying combination of suspense, history, science, action, and ingenious speculation. In The Devil Colony, Sigma Force stalwarts Painter Crowe and Commander Grayson Pierce must investigate a gruesome massacre in the Rocky Mountains and root out a secret cabal that has been manipulating momentous events since the time of the original thirteen colonies. Once again, Rollins delivers a spine-tingler that will leave fans of Michael Crichton, The Da Vinci Code, and Indiana Jones breathless—as he exposes the dark truth behind the founding of America.
A secret from the past threatens to destroy the modern world in bestseller Rollins's riveting seventh Sigma Force novel (after The Doomsday Key). While exploring a mysterious cavern full of desiccated human bodies in the Rocky Mountains of Utah, two teenage boys discover the gold-coated skull of a saber-toothed tiger atop a granite plinth. Later, after others bring this prehistoric artifact to the surface, it triggers a blast that creates a strange force that dissolves rock and eats its way into the ground, eventually unleashing a volcano. When the members of the special forces unit known as Sigma, led by Painter Crowe, investigate, they uncover a massive conspiracy that has its roots in Mormonism, Native American legends, Thomas Jefferson, and explorer Meriwether Lewis, to name just a few of the fascinating characters and scientific threads that stitch this intricate action thriller together. Rollins gets better with each book, and his position at the top of this particular subgenre remains unshaken. 10-city author tour.

Great, fun fiction speckled with interesting fact
This was my first James Rollins and my first book on IPad. A fast paced read, well suited to the IPad (I googled lots of the more interesting facts mentioned in the book). If you are looking for a fun, immersive action packed read, give this one a try.
If it has Rollins' name on it, then I own it. Never let me down! Not for a second! June 21st? Goodness. Shoot me now.
My first book by this author. Not only did I find the story line a blend of factual and enlightening material, the story generated an interest in this era of American history that I had not been aware of, let alone appreciate it's historical present day significance.
While not a stay up all night read--I put in several hours each day.
Although there are numerous well developed characters, one can readily recall their role in the suspenseful events leading to the well developed conclusion.
I rarely write reviews. Usually only for those books that "move me" either positively or negatively. (I actually gave Brad Thor's latest... A One Star, actually it should have been a two star... I hit the wrong star.
But, based upon this one book... I look forward to reading more of this gifted writer. (No, I am not related to this author, not a groupie and certainly not compensated for this review. I feel the least I can do for all this author has given me by way of this book is to praise and encourage you to buy and support him).
Buy it! You will not regret it and I believe the majority of readers will be moved, changed and anxious to share factual information on our history and possible implications for today and the future.
