The Devil Out There is a collection of seven interconnected stories that take place in the 60s and early 70s in various settings: a tidal beach; an island apartment in the rain; a mountain valley choked with redwoods; the old-fashioned parlour of a Montreal boarding house; the heat of a Boston summer when JFK comes to town; and the smoky bars and haute cuisine restaurants of Montreal.
