Saffron Tate has come to Wales to do what she does best: eat widely, judge honestly, and write without fear or favour. From Swansea seafood to salt-marsh lamb and Welsh whisky, it's a region that rewards patience over performance — something Saffy appreciates more than ever.

But when she's invited behind the scenes of The Dog's Dinner, a travelling television cooking competition, Saffy finds herself sharing space with celebrity chef Danny West — a man whose career she once nearly destroyed with a single, devastating review. When Danny dies suddenly on the eve of filming, the show moves on with unsettling speed.

Asked to step in as host for one episode, Saffy discovers how easily judgement can be shaped, softened, or erased altogether. As the cameras roll and a famously honest dog delivers a verdict of his own, Saffy begins to question not just who benefited from Danny's death — but who controlled the story before and after.
