A Glimpse of Family
My grandmother was a contemporary of the author, and also grew up in Wayne County, Kentucky. In fact, they were cousins. I remember my grandmother talking about Harriet and keeping well-worn copies of her books. I inherited this books when she passed, a few years ago. I ended up reading his one in e-book format for fear that, of I tried to read grandma's copy, it would fall apart.
Reading this book gave me a glimpse of what life may have been like for my grandparents, and also for my dad, who would have been something like Enoch's age, at that time. I only wish I'd read it while grandma was still alive, so that I could have talked to her about it.
