Passing this on to my daughter!

This was a fun book to read and I know my daughter will love it as well! I just bought the next in the series!

Obsessive reader ,

Wish I could have given this more stars, but...

Why don't these authors use editors? This is an interesting world, but the story is seriously flawed by poor writing, grammar, syntax, etc. very sloppy! The first book was free, and I will not spend any money for the sequels. Too bad!

Great Story, BUT. . . .

In The Doorknob Society, M.J. Fletcher has written a fabulous, rip-roaring fantasy adventure. It’s the kind of story I’d have loved to have given my nieces and nephews when they were young. It’s the kind of story I’d love to give my great-nephew, when he gets a little older. If I were rating the book on nothing but the story, I’d have happily given it five stars.

That being said, I only read the first (free) book in the Doorknob Society series, and refuse to buy any more. I certainly will not buy these books for any child. Why? I expect an author to maintain a professional level of spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Unfortunately, Mr. Fletcher does not come anywhere close to this level. Homophones are confused. Sentence fragments and run-on sentences abound. At times, i had to stop and try to decipher exactly what Mr. Fletcher meant to say. My pleasure in the story was nearly cancelled out by my frustration with the writing. If i were to rate this book on nothing but spelling and grammar, I’d have given it a grudging one star.

Mr. Fletcher, please get a well-educated human to help you edit your books. If a revised edition of this book were to be put out (and if I were assured that the rest of the series had been properly edited, I would buy the rest of the series instantly.
