Bestselling author Bruce Wilkinson shows how to identify and overcome the obstacles that keep millions from living the life they were created for. He begins with a compelling modern-day parable about Ordinary, who dares to leave the Land of Familiar to pursue his Big Dream. With the help of the Dream Giver, Ordinary begins the hardest and most rewarding journey of his life. Wilkinson gives readers practical, biblical keys to fulfilling their own dream, revealing that there's no limit to what God can accomplish when we choose to pursue the dreams He gives us for His honor.
Are you living your dream— or just living your life?
Welcome to a little story about a very big idea. This compelling modern-day parable tells the story of Ordinary, who dares to leave the Land of Familiar to pursue his Big Dream.
You, too, have been given a Big Dream. One that can change your life. One that the Dream Giver wants you to achieve. Does your Big Dream seem hopelessly out of reach? Are you waiting for something or someone to make your dream happen?
Then you’re ready for The Dream Giver.
Let Bruce Wilkinson show you how to rise above the ordinary, conquer your fears, and overcome the obstacles that keep you from living your Big Dream.
You were made for this. Now it’s time to begin your journey.
Like Richard Bach's 1970 classic, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, this little guide by the bestselling author of the Prayer of Jabez franchise is a story about pursuing one's dreams. But it aims to be a"practical and innovative guide to achieving your Big Dream" as well. The first part of Wilkinson's slender book is the fable of person searching for what's missing in his life. A"Nobody named Ordinary who lived in the Land of Familiar," he decides, finally, to pursue his higher calling; he encounters--and overcomes--many obstacles along the way. In the second part of the book, Wilkinson plays the role of a Dream Coach, counseling readers on how to achieve their own Big Dreams though facing their fears, enduring hardships, surrendering to God and realizing their full potential. Looking back to moments in the tale of Ordinary, Wilkinson reemphasizes and reiterates the lessons learned by his everyman, employing personal anecdotes, scripture and impassioned prose. The book speaks plainly of achieving lofty goals and overcoming conflict, and the message of the parable may touch the hearts of readers who need a spiritual push. But it may also strike some as overly simplistic, since the tone veers towards childish at times ("We've all seen how Bullies work. Remember, they react primarily because you have disturbed their Comfort Zone. They feel threatened. They feel losing something important--their security or routine, their assumptions about success. Maybe they feel that they're losing you"). That said, those who need warm, enthusiastic encouragement should find it here.

Life Changing - Great For Business Owners
I’m so late to the party here given that this book has been out for a decade but this book has truly changed my life. I have been living the life as a Dreamer who set out on his Big Dream but I didn’t know there were other Dreamers out there. I’m so glad I’m not alone and that there’s a pattern to how God takes us on journeys throughout our lives. This book has been so encouraging to me. Thank you David for listening to God and writing it. Highly recommended for anyone starting a small business.
This book has opened my eyes. I myself am a dreamer but am afraid to take the necessary steps. I also was not aware how to truly honor and understand Gods dream for my life. I'm blown away. I have a lot of work to do!
Dream a Bigger Dream
I moved to Atlanta, GA with directive and approval from God. His mighty voice spoke to me when I allowed myself to be still. My heart led me to service at Ebenezer Baptist Church (Dr. King's church, who we all know as one of the ultimate dreamers). The bible study series was "Dream a Bigger Dream" and "The Dream Giver" was used as auxiliary text.
I was unable to purchase the book at the time but I longed for it. I was patient. I knew, however, that there was something especially for me in that book. Time passed. I became more frustrated that my Big Dream was not providing for me as I had thought it would.
My spirit got heavy and my faith was faltering. God sent me a Champion who encouraged me to read The Gospels. A beloved bully showed up and said that I was studying wrong and to not spend too much time in the Word as it was not meant to stress.
So wanting to honor God and learn about Him AND be obedient to the beloved bully (my granny), I got slick and ordered "The Dream Giver" so I could continue study but obey my granny.
And just as I KNEW, God had planted so much within the book that spoke directly to me. This book gave me further clarity and further initiative to stay on my path and continue to follow God.
I am excited that my Big Dream is really an extension of God's bigger dream.
This book is a must read for anyone, and that's all of us, in pursuit of their Big Dream.
