Convoluted and hard to finish

My first book from this author and it didn’t live up to the hype of the reviews. It started off well enough but it became tedious. I found it hard to believe that Simon and Bea couldn’t communicate about things they had both found in their research/dream/whatever- it wasn’t until 80% of the book that they sort of compared notes when he had asked for her help from the get go. You’d think they’d work together. And the different povs made it all muddled. I struggled to finish it as the only story I was interested in was the past one and it was a dire one.
