The Drop

An unknown pursuer chases a woman bearing a cold, darkened heart. Frustrated, she enters into lighter areas of life, cornered by something good. The prey? Dr. Lissa Ryons, forensic scientist at the heart of the busy United Nations Headquarters. Discovered in the Lost and Found, is a formal cloth table napkin. On both sides are writings of an unknown language and perplexing diagrams. The unusual napkin is sent to her department for analysis. Due to the napkin’s uncommon properties, Dr. Ryons’ senses and sensibilities are mystified. Distracted out of her daily routine she finds herself maneuvered into side trails in search of answers. As she veers away from her typical private-self, Lissa questions: My life isn’t right, but it isn’t wrong―is it?
