Good entertainment
I liked this better than the first book in the series. I found it better balanced with regard to the mystery plot and the historical context.

Great book. The author keeps you guessing until the very end.
Erudite detective novel
Although I appreciate the author's research, the entertainment factor was much lower than in the first novel in the series. I'll stick around to see where Persis goes in the next one, though.
