Marina Thwaite, Danielle Minkoff and Julian Clarke were buddies at Brown, certain that they would soon do something important in the world. But as all near 30, Danielle is struggling as a TV documentary maker, and Julius is barely surviving financially as a freelance critic. All of the characters are awful
The characters are awful and self-involved and oddly inauthentic. And it took a few hundred pages to finally get engaging. I came close to DNF many times but ultimately did finish it.

One of my top ten reads. Consuming characters, brilliant
dialogue, hard to put down.
Awful
Other than its pretentious and peopled with the most unappealing characters, the writing is excellent. But there is a preponderance of parenthetical clauses that should have been addressed by the editor.
