The Errand Boy

Philip Brent is miserable. He lives in a contentious household with his unkind stepmother and half-brother, and he desperately longs for a change. One evening, Philip discovers that the man he had always considered his father was merely the innkeeper Philip had been abandoned with as a babe. Philip sees this as a chance to cut ties with his presumed family and sets out on his own for New York. There, he meets the elderly Mr. Carter, who offers Philip employment as his personal secretary.
