Publisher Description
"All the great groups that stood about the Cross represent in one way or another the great historical truth of the time; that the world could not save itself."
The Everlasting Man is a rumination on the history of mankind, Christ and Christianity. In this book, Chesterton puts his mind to the task of illustrating the spiritual journey of humanity. The thesis of The Everlasting Man proposes that though Christ was a man, he was a man like no other. Appraising this book, C.S. Lewis confessed that this book was instrumental in "baptizing" his intellect.

Chesterton’s Masterpiece
This book is the culmination of Chesterton’s lifelong endeavor to defend Christianity as the only sane thing in an insane world. Building on the ideas he wrote three decades earlier in “Heretics” and “Orthodoxy”, he gives a unique and compelling portrayal of human history. His arguments blend theology with sociology, history, myth, and philosophy to produce a picture of Man and his search for the truth. Cleverly written and with respect and compassion for any and all who would disagree with him, Chesterton deserves to be on more bookshelves, with this title at the very top.
