Masterful contemporary retelling of a classic fairytale
From the first sentence of Chapter 1, I was hooked and could not put the book down. The Evil Queen is a masterful, contemporary retelling of The Snow White fairytale (Grimm and Disney) and has appeal to its intended young adult audience as well as an adult audience who appreciates fairy tales in all their incarnations. The story took a fundamental good versus evil tale and made it multi-layered and complex, reflecting reality more accurately. Though the characters in the novel are destined to be characters from Snow White, by story’s end they discover that who they are is a matter of perspective. The Evil Queen will enthrall you, entertain you, and make you believe in fairy tales once again. This novel should be a must read on your summer list! Everything I didn’t know I needed
Honestly, all clichès aside, this was beautifully written and a perfect rendition of one of our favorite fairy tales. Hopeful we’ll get some more content like this, could not put it down!
