The Exiles

In Paris in 1308, amid the flood-prone banks of the Seine and the shadow of Notre-Dame, a modest lodging house becomes a stage for suspicion, secrecy, and revelation. Its stern owner, Joseph Tirechair, and his sharp-witted wife Jacqueline are unsettled by mysterious visitors: a noble-looking woman, an austere older man, and the delicate young Godefroid, whose presence hints at hidden rank and sorrow. Fearful of heresy, sorcery, and scandal, Tirechair grows convinced their guests are dangerous, while Jacqueline's curiosity suggests a deeper truth waiting to emerge. That mystery leads to the crowded lecture hall of Doctor Sigier, Paris's celebrated visionary theologian. Before students, clergy, nobles, and scholars, he unfolds a dazzling sermon on resurrection, the soul's ascent, and the hidden unity of creation, linking plants, planets, angels, and human destiny in one vast divine order. With fierce eloquence, he challenges pride, war, and worldly knowledge, urging humility, faith, and purification. When sunlight suddenly floods the hall, the audience takes it as a miracle, and the line between philosophy, prophecy, and revelation seems to vanish.
