Minnesota’s Vietnam Connection
This is a book of remembrance and tribute. It contains the biographies, family comments, ‘last letters home,’ and photos of over 400 Minnesota men who were killed in the Vietnam War between 1962 and 1973.
It has been many years since the United States withdrew their armed forces from Vietnam, but that should not serve to temper our concern and remembrance of those who served and those who died.
The stories will put faces to the names of these men who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving, and will remind us of the horror, tragedy, and grief caused by war.
The human side of these men will hit close to home, for in each of them is a part of us. Their hopes and dreams will never be and that is something we cannot change, but by understanding the impact of these losses and the intense grief that is forever with the surviving family members and friends, we can all begin to share the pain of these tragedies.
The emotions that will be stirred when reading about these men will change you. Hopefully, it will bring more humanity to your attitudes and make you more sensitive to all human losses, regardless of who, how, or where.
This book is intended to bring tears, and it will bring tears.
There are over 58,000 names etched upon the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. There are many stories that still need to be told and recorded for history. It is the goal of the Memorial Press to seek out and tell these stories, as well as the many untold stories from the surviving Vietnam Veterans.
Remembrance and tribute to all veterans should never cease.
