There are stories that choose you. You don't sit down one morning and decide to write them. They arrive uninvited, settle into the corners of your mind, and refuse to leave until you give them the space they demand. The Fading Light was that kind of story for me.

It is a coming-of-age story — full of stolen mangoes, failed romances, and the fierce loyalties of youth. I wanted readers to fall in love with this world before it was taken away, because that is the truth of what happened. Cambodia was not always darkness.

It is a survival story — as the world collapses around our protagonist, warmth gives way to silence. The particular silence of people who have learned that one wrong word costs everything.

And it is a thriller — with sequences of pursuit, escape, and impossible odds that will test the very limits of what you believe human beings can endure.

Written as a semi-screenplay novel, it places you directly inside each scene with cinematic urgency — because this is ultimately a story about what we see, what we hide, and what we lose when we are forced to choose between sight and survival.
