Standing on Heldwr Fort's walls Prince Tyrran of Cadoria sees the vast army of the powerful Empire of Thargoẑa before him. Despite his past victories against the empire, he wonders whether his men's decision to fight was right.

After the brutal siege, his doubts are proved right, as betrayal too close to home decides the battle, and Cadoria falls.

While the bewildered Prince Tyrran struggles to cope with his devastating defeat and the nature of his betrayal, he must face the truth of his betrayal. The Thargoẑans then force him into an agonising choice—betray his country or watch it burn.

With his country now part of the empire, the melancholic Prince Tyrran must find forgiveness for his betrayal, uncover the traitor's identity and deliver vengeance for his slain men, his country and himself.
