The thread of life is a delicate thing. It is so easily broken...
My name is Penn, and I'm a spinner. As one of the three Fates, it's easy for me to know the plans for the lives of the humans. Mine, on the other hand, is a bit foggier. I guess things started to get out of control when I spun her--Kismet. My focus shifted, one thing led to another, and I wound up banished to Earth.
You'd think it'd be pretty hard to surprise me, but after my banishment, they just kept hitting me like a one-two knockout punch. When the people around me started dying before their time, I knew something was very wrong and I had to do whatever I could to set it right. The one thing I didn't know was...what is the true fate of a Fate?

The Fate .... Awesome!
I got this book free for an honest review. I will honestly tell you I loved it! This is a very original story line! I got sucked right in and read it in 2 days! So yes now I'm a little tired but it's so worth it. I cannot wait to find out what happens as this series continues!
Started off a bit slow but I really enjoyed the story. I was given this book for an honest review.
Fate - an enjoyable book
I received a copy of this book free in exchange for an honest review.
That being said... I really enjoyed this book. For me, it was a little slow getting started and it kind of left me hanging at the end (which I HATE!!! *lol*) But - when I remembered it's just the first book in a series, I calmed down. I'm not normally interested in books whose characters are angels or denizens of heaven, but Penn's story pulls you in. He is very human in that he feels conflicted, he feels love, and pain. Along with pride, fear and anger. I think the characters are very well developed. The environment doesn't play as heavily into the story line, so its not as well built as the people.
A *very* brief summary - Penn, the main character, is a Fate. The Spinner, in fact. He creates a Human life so special, he is consumed by this life and it detracts from his work, causing him to make a mistake. As punishment for his mistake, he is banished to Earth, to live as an immortal among the Humans. In the course of his punishment, he realizes there is a problem. People who aren't supposed to be, are dying. He teams up with a Weaver, a Reaper and his fellow Fates to try to solve the mystery.
I sincerely recommend this book. Take a sick day, snuggle on the sofa with a blankie, your favorite pet and some snacks and just enjoy!
