"[T]he cast of women and their bond resonates. This is a delight." Publishers Weekly (2021)
Some secrets refuse to stay buried.
By all rights, Sue Jewel should be dead. In place of celebrating her fortieth birthday, she was wrapped in plastic and stuffed in the trunk of a car. Worst part is the man she promised to spend her life with is the one who tried to kill her. With a little help from Fate, Sue walks away from the ordeal, but her husband doesn’t.
Now with a new lease on life, Sue wants to put as much mileage between her past and her present as she can. It would be a lot easier if something supernatural with dark intent wasn’t along for the ride. Desperate to break free from it all, she finds herself in Freewild Cove, making new friends, catching the eye of the handsome coffee shop owner, and hoping to magically cut her ties to her would-be murderer once and for all.
Lorna, Vivien, and Heather are back. And with the help of Grandma Julia’s ghost, they’re kicking supernatural butt and taking names!

About the Order of Magic Series
Older women kick ass. They know things. They’ve been there. They are worthy of their own literature category. They stopped giving a fuck. They also have their own set of issues that they face–empty nests, widows, divorce, menopause, health, etc–and these issues deserve to be addressed and embraced in literature. Women friendships matter. Women matter. Our thoughts and feelings matter.
Welcome to Paranormal Women's Fiction. Books for women who kick ass.

Second Chance Magic
Third Time's A Charm
The Fourth Power
The Fifth Sense
The Sixth Spell
The Seventh Key
The Eighth Potion
Gen X Fiction
Bestseller Pillow's fluffy fifth Order of Magic paranormal romance (after The Fourth Power) eschews the heavier elements of its dark premise to draw readers into a supportive magical world hidden beneath the mundane. Sue Jewel is grateful to be alive; just after her 40th birthday, her abusive husband, Hank, decided that she'd outlived her usefulness and stuffed her in the trunk of his car. Luckily, the car accident that killed Hank saved Sue's life. After being released from the hospital, she's plagued by sensory phantasmic reminders of Hank—from tasting his bourbon and cigarettes, to catching glimpses of his face—until a mysterious silver ring she discovers among her belongings leads her to small-town Freewild, N.C. There, she finds a community theater with a long history of the supernatural and a small group of magical women already inducted into the sisterhood of the silver ring. As she finds a home within their ranks, she also develops a connection with coffee shop owner Jameson Lloyd, who adds some brightness to her world. It's a story of recovery that doesn't dig too deep into trauma or grief, instead focusing on the healing power of friendship. The romance is a bit perfunctory, but the cast of women and their bond resonates. This is a delight. (Self-published)
Standalone but I recommend the series
This is a new story in the Order of Magic series and it's Sue's story. She survived an accident that killed her abusive husband. This is her story of the way forward. Likable characters and Sue was impressive in her success in overcoming her past. This is a standalone but I do recommend reading the others in the series so you'll enjoy revisiting with them.
Will break your heart and put it back happy
I love these women of a certain age. At forty Sue finds herself being replaced by her husband, but that doesn’t work out for him. She could curl up and let the darkness envelop her but she takes a wild crazy ride to a new future. With the help of three wonderful magical sisters of the heart Sue battles old demons and comes out with a new supernatural ability and new love interest to boot. Loved this twisty, spooky but not scary, totally enthralling read.

Another Talent Added
Segued from the previous book, The Fourth Power we briefly get introduced to Sue Jewell in her hot mess state. This is Susan “Sue” Jewel’s story. We read about her trauma, physical abuse and potential murder when she is coerced to Freewild Cove, North Carolina from St. Louis, Missouri. As the story continues the fear is the indicator and lack of trust. We find our Sue has a talent or gift as the other three ladies. However this series inspires hope and healing. This is what enchants me to this saga. Beautiful that over forty females can get a second chance if they allow themselves to heal from the pain they’ve endured. Best recommend reading in order but can be read as a standalone even though the previous books segue into the next story.
