A ton of evidence points to Trammel, but Haller crafts an impressive defense that includes "the fifth witness" of the title. Connelly has a sure command of the legal and procedural details of criminal court, and even manages to make the arcane, shady world of foreclosure interesting. While the prose may lack some of the poetic nuance of his early novels, the plot is worthy of a master storyteller. The film of The Lincoln Lawyer, the first Mickey Haller novel, releases in March.

Great twist
Another great mystery and another great twist. Michael Connelly is just a step above and keeps you on your toes. Mickey’s newest client is probably his most annoying one but this ends in the most satisfying way.

Michael, I am your biggest fan! Thanks for such incredible story telling. Each story you tell pulls me in hook line and sinker. This book is the best ever! Could not put it down. Your novels are like the tennis match of literature. Mickie's ahead then behind then ahead. His client is guilty then innocent then guilty. And then at the end a pie in the face! You never see it coming! I wish the next chapter in Michael Hallers' life was on the written page today! I can't wait to see where you take him next! The new DA? The possibilities give me goose bumps! Please write faster!
