Great Character, Good Tale
I enjoyed this book greatly, primarily because of the memorable and well-written main character, Basso, and for the immensely enjoyable dialog. The story itself is good, and moves along well, but with this book, it's more about the journey than the destination. I found myself more curious about what the characters would say next than how the story would proceed. Parker's writing style apparently rubs some people the wrong way, but I find it wonderful, and it clicks with me perfectly. I enjoyed The Folding Knife so much, I've since moved on to more of Parker's books (The Engineer Trilogy) and am enjoying that as well.
Summary: 4 stars for the writing style and great characters, while the story itself was adequate at best.
