Why is it necessary to use gutter language and R-rated descriptions to promote an otherwise good story line?

An extremely well written fast paced action thriller. Jack Emery a Pulitzer winning journalist is the key to stopping an organization called the Foundation from taking over the reigns of control of our government. They will stop at nothing. They have masterminded and started a war with China. Blackmailed the president. An excellent read !!! My highest recommendation !!
