Dara looked at Duke with a start and he gave a short chuckle. "Jeff, show Ms. Nichols her accommodation."

Dara was a little uneasy. She was clearly out of her element here in the country surrounded by ranch hands, not another person in sight - three long days ahead of her.

Jeff took her by the arm and she followed him to a bedroom at the far end of the house. They arrived at the end of the hall and stood together in front of the door.

Jeff leaned toward Dara until he was kissing distance and turned the knob, pushing the door inward and Dara laughed nervously while Jeff's eyes traveled to her mouth and her breath caught in her throat.

"We'll see you in the tack room at six sharp, while there's enough daylight for a short ride. We have a special mount for you," he said, reaching up he tucked a wisp of hair behind her ear, looking at her a moment longer before retreating and making his way down the long, dim hallway.
