The Freedom of the WIll was written in 1754 towards the latter end of Jonathan Edwards life. In this text, Edwards investigates the contrasting Calvinistic and Arminian traditions in order to explain moral agency, divine predetermination, desire, good, and evil. In this text, the prowess of Edwards' mind is in full display as he creatively combines Scriptural arguments with the reigning Enlightenment philosophical arguments of his day.
