Falling through parallel times every three days, David Sinclair is desperate to get back home, but to do so he has to catch a man that calls himself The Jester - even though there's nothing funny about him. A tentative mental connection allows David to track him, but finding The Jester proves difficult when he's able to step into other people's bodies and disguise himself.

Rob, a friend David makes in one of the parallel times, works out a successful trap, but joining forces isn't allowed, so they're made to play again, with devastating results for Rob.

Led through dark dystopian times, David begins to wonder if his suspicions are correct: Is David's girlfriend working for The Jester? Did she recruit him to play The Jester's depraved games? But finding out the truth isn't easy when you're slipping through time.

Described as Inter-dimensional hide and seek by one reader, this dark, science fiction fantasy novella is an introduction to a fast-paced, time-travel adventure, the conclusion of which can be found in the full-length novel, Pool of Players.
