More a collection of stories than a novel
I was drawn to The Gap in the Curtain since it was cited as an early example of time travel in modern literature. Well that is a vast overstatement. The hook that ties the tales together is about an experiment that gives seven members of a country house party a brief glance a year in to the future. What follows is the consequences on those given this foresight. The characters are all very upper British class living and do those types of Ives. It’s rather dated, not in a bad way, as being very much about Britain in the pre WW II era, with many of those prejudices. And, while the stories are engaging, they all have a Twilight Zone element to them. Overall, a decent read.
