The Gate Beneath the Lake

The Gate Beneath the Lake

By Ricardo Marques

Some secrets are buried. Others are waiting beneath the surface.

When teenage Sarah Aniston disappears during a school trip to a quiet village lagoon, nobody can explain what happened. No body is found, no answers emerge, and her family is left clinging to the hope that she might still be alive.

As the investigation deepens, Detective Inspector Helen Ward uncovers disturbing fragments of the village's forgotten history. Old manuscripts speak of disappearances occurring every twenty-two years, while a name erased from the past threatens to reveal a truth nobody was meant to discover.

Meanwhile, Jenna Blackwood — a misunderstood gothic teenager with a fascination for the occult — begins receiving mysterious messages that seem connected to Sarah's disappearance. But when Jenna ventures into the depths of the lagoon, she discovers that the village hides something far more extraordinary than anyone could have imagined.
