Thomas Anstey Guthrie was an English novelist and journalist, who wrote his comic novels under the pseudonym F. Anstey. Many of Anstey's stories have been adapted into theatrical productions, motion pictures. In later life, Anstey spent a good deal of time overseeing dramatizations of his works, and later film adaptations. According to the critics the fantasy of Guthrie's stories is a lighthearted critique of middle-class British society during the Victorian era.
“The Giant's Robe” is one of the Antsey's very few serious novels. The story is devoted to a weak young man pretends to be the author of a play sent him by a friend in India. The unfolding of his character in the stress of such a situation, and the remorse that drives him to confess, mingle more serious elements with the comic. This story has it all! You will not want to put it down just right after beginning!
