Other titles of the story are: The Handless Maiden, The Girl With Silver Hands and The Armless Maiden. The tale goes about poor miller that arranged a deal with the devil. The miller gave the devil all what stood behind his mill in order to become reach. Thinking it was an apple tree, he sold his beautiful daughter to the devil. After three years have passed, devil returned to take the girl, but she washed herself and outlined a chalk circle around her so devil was unable to take her.
