They lie on the hillside, wearing matching white dresses, tiaras in their blonde hair. Each of them clutches a red rose. They could be sleeping, but frost shines on the lashes of their wide blue eyes, frozen open forever…
On a green hill outside Canterbury, where a crown has been cut into the chalk, two girls are lying dead, left for Detective Lexi Bennett to find them on her morning run.
The victims are quickly identified as sisters Lucy and Eden Carter. But they are triplets… and the third sister, Paige, is still missing.
The news makes Lexi’s blood run cold. She was a triplet too. And years ago, she and her sisters were abducted. Two of them escaped. One was lost forever.
Has the man who took her returned to send her a message? Will she be able to use her past to find answers? Or is she walking into a trap designed just for her…

Triple threat
Alison Belsham is a triple threat writer, and I say that with all sincerity. Her writing style is imaginative , clever, and intricate. Lexi, the main character, is infused with realism. She’s a talented investigator, trained in profiling by the FBI, and now returns to her hometown to find herself embroiled in a heinous murder. It involves triplets, one of whom is still missing. Not only that it calls into Lexi’s memory her own abduction with her sisters from many years previous. Lexi’s professionalism cracks as the hours and then days trickle by, with no breaks in the case to find the third sister and Lexi’s new team running on empty. The turning point is the stunning appearance of Lexi’s sister Rose’s diary and then a mysterious drawing done by the investigator in Lexi’s abduction. There are a few glitches and head-scratchers left at the end of the book, but they are minor or perhaps other books answer the odds-and-ends??? If that’s the case, it’s also the reason I gave 4⭐️ instead of 5. I needed those answers to fulfill Lexi’s experience. With those answers missing, the ending fell a little flat when juxtaposed against the brilliance of the overall plot.
The girls on chalk hill review
I’m not really sure what chalk hill is, and it’s never really described in the book, aside from being a hill. This book was pretty good. It’s about a set of triplets who are abducted and two of them are found murdered. The detective who discovers their bodies is also a triplet whose sisters and herself were abducted 17 years earlier and who escaped with one of her sisters alive. The third sister was unfortunately killed and it’s the same man responsible for the murders of the two other girls. The book was a pretty good mystery and I couldn’t predict who the killer was. 3 out of 5 stars.
