The Goer

The Goer is a New Adult fantasy novel that explores the tension between wanderlust and the desire to belong. The setting is a world of mingled landscapes and cultures, where a few days' travel separates a jungle island of warriors from a city of merchants who trade over sand and sea, where an agrarian nation wages civil war in the shade of a mountain inhabited by tribes of musical goatherds. Here, magic is gained by moving, and lost by standing still.

Jia is a warrior of the Stone Isle. Once eager for the glory of her people that is found only in battle, she is broken down by a dishonourable campaign and loses faith in her people's warlike ways. Finally she flees in the company of a secretive servant girl named Lantiss. The two come to depend on each other on their travels, but both their wills are tested by the queen of a far-off land.
