Publisher Description
An over-the-top psychological thriller that tells the story of the scorned wife of a billionaire and her delicious plot to get revenge and bring him to his knees—a "sexy, deliciously dark journey" (Los Angeles Times) from a global superstar.
Faye has loved Jack since they were students at business school. Jack, the perpetual golden boy, grew up wealthy, unlike Faye, who has worked hard to bury a dark past. When Jack needed help launching a new company, Faye left school to support him, waitressing by day and working as his strategist by night. When the business took off, Faye stayed home and cared for their daughter.
Now, she is wealthier than she ever imagined, but more and more removed from the excitement of the business world. And none of the perks of wealth make up for the fact that Jack has begun to treat her coldly. When Faye discovers that he's having an affair, the polished façade of their life cracks wide open. Faye is alone, emotionally shattered, and financially devastated—but hell hath no fury like a woman with a violent past bent on vengeance. Jack is about to get exactly what he deserves—and so much more. In this splashy, electrifying story of sex, betrayal, and secrets, a woman's revenge is a brutal but beautiful thing.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Wondering why so many people are talking about Swedish thrillers lately? Camilla Läckberg’s intense novel will make it abundantly clear. The Golden Cage follows Faye, a woman who’s put her dark past behind her to help her charismatic husband, Jack, create a business empire. But when Faye discovers a shocking truth about the man she’s devoted her life to, she devises a new plan: Destroy him. Läckberg had us consistently cheering on her heroine’s vendetta. And not only did she throw us for a loop at least once per chapter, but she pulled in skillful flashbacks that revealed every character’s evolution with a depth of emotion that made us even more invested in the story. Oh, and did we mention that Läckberg’s book is also sexy as hell? The Golden Cage is a riveting read that keeps you dialed in to the very end.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
L ckberg (The Lost Boy) outdoes herself with this delectable tale of revenge. At 34, devoted wife and mother Faye thinks her wretched past is behind her. Now she has it all a lavish Stockholm lifestyle, glorified social status, and a sexy entrepreneurial husband until she catches Jack and his business partner, Ylva, romping on Faye's bed. Left humiliated, belittled, and financially destitute in the wake of the subsequent divorce, Faye, who realizes women too often turn their rage on themselves, plots an exquisite comeuppance for Jack, whom she supported when the two were in business school together by giving up her own studies and becoming a waitress. Chapters devoted to Faye's married life alternate with scorching flashbacks to her traumatic childhood. The poignant insights into women's capacity for self-sacrifice, multidimensional characterizations, and celebration of female ingenuity will resonate with many. L ckberg reinforces her position as the thriller queen of Scandinavia. 100,000 announced first printing.

Fantastic!
This was one of the best books I’ve read in awhile and I read A LOT! The premise, twists, character development and overall storytelling was perfect. I honestly didn’t want to finish it because I didn’t want it to end. Read it!
Dis appointed
This book is a waste of money. Previous books from same author were much better. Was this book written by the same person as “The ice princess”?. Maybe The GoldenCage was written by a Ghost writer. Who knows? Do not waste your time.
Pretty bad
I have a bad habit of choosing books based on price. I’ve become increasingly concerned that this is not a good strategy and have recently resolved to choose books based on perceived merit, I purchased this book after reading a NYT article that suggested this was one of the best books of 2020. Unfortunately, this is one of the worst books I’ve read in quite some time. The characters are superficial stereotypes, the plot is ludicrous and the ending is disappointing. And it cost $13. Ugh.
