The Haunted Bakery

Every recipe has a margin note. Every margin note has a secret.

Edie Hartwell knows exactly two things when she arrives in Hearth Hollow: how to bake, and how to start over. Her restaurant is gone, her great-aunt Sylvie is three months buried, and the Hollow Hearth Bakery, crooked, beloved, and reportedly haunted, is now hers.

The village says Sylvie fell down the cellar stairs. The village also says the bakery smells of cinnamon at three in the morning, when the ovens are cold and the doors are locked.

Edie doesn't believe in ghosts. But she believes in flour footprints that stop at a solid brick wall. She believes in a forged signature no baker could mistake. And when a second body is discovered, she realizes someone alive is willing to kill to keep the bakery's oldest secret buried.

With a gossip network faster than the local police, a rival tea-room owner holding a forty-year grudge, a skeptical detective who never misses his Saturday loaf, and a ginger cat that watches empty corners, Edie must uncover the truth behind her aunt's death before the killer decides the new baker knows far too much.

The Haunted Bakery is the first book in The Hearth & Hollow Mysteries, a charming cozy mystery series filled with clever clues, memorable characters, found family, gentle humor, and a touch of cinnamon-scented mystery. Perfect for readers who love cozy culinary mysteries, small village secrets, amateur sleuths, and light paranormal intrigue.
