A meet-cute over blackberries at Whole Foods leads to quality banter and swift physical intimacy between the two women. They bond over Sarah s volunteer work at a wild animal refuge and their mutual failure to meet familial expectations, but the family issues are one-dimensional and inadequately addressed. The couple s strong attraction only highlights the dullness of their quickly resolved series of conflicts between Chris s rigid moral code and Sarah s past minor infractions of the law, though the K-9 details add welcome interest. The detailed sex scenes are hot but the romance is sadly less fiery, marred by easy solutions to their problems that narrate rather than demonstrating character growth.
