You're the Thunder Lord!" Varna slapped the table and the loud clap resounded in the empty council hall. "And Restorer of the Empire! You didn't breathe a word about this when I was going on and on about seeing the winds blow from all corners. And now you're telling me that the winds came at your command! What more are you hiding?"

       Kenrad's cheeks reddened under his tan but his voice was calm. "I'm sorry, Varna. My path is not always clear—even with Narne's Song to guide me. In the prophecy of the Thunder Lord details are sorely lacking."

       Varna leaned back and eyed the young mage. "What about your revenge? As I recall, you were determined to have it."

       "My revenge must wait."
