Standard Stirling. However, nothing new here. Either he's building to a grand finale, likely the next book unless he introduces a completely different element, or he is quite at a loss and floundering.
Good solid Rudy and Mathilda story..
It just gets more wonderful
I love the series ( though it bogged down a bit in " Scourge of God"), and it just becomes more wonderful with each read. This is Stirling at his best.
Not as fast paced or novel as his prior books. Character development took front seat to action. Most disappointing is no new tool or 'art of war' development. Regardless I went through it quickly and wait impatiently for his next
