Who Wrote This?!
I’ve read all of M.J. Rose’s books and many from the Cotton Malone series by Berry, and if any of their individual books were this poorly written, I wouldn’t have. Incredibly loose writing, unnecessarily obvious statements, an awkward mix of overt formality with conversational contractions—it’s a mess. As if both authors sent in a first draft that was literally taped together with no editor on board. I couldn’t finish, and I’m disappointed for Rose and Berry that their names are on this. Also sad, b/c it’s an intriguing plot line, and I wanted to finish, but I couldn’t. I mean, a high school senior could have done a better job.
