Publisher Description

Learn to solve statistics problems—and make them no problem!

Most math and science study guides are dry and difficult, but this is the exception. Following the successful The Humongous Books in calculus and algebra, bestselling author Mike Kelley takes a typical statistics workbook, full of solved problems, and writes notes in the margins, adding missing steps and simplifying concepts and solutions. By learning how to interpret and solve problems as they are presented in statistics courses, students prepare to solve those difficult problems that were never discussed in class but are always on exams. There are also annotated notes throughout the book to clarify each problem—all guided by an author with a great track record for helping students and math enthusiasts. His website (calculus-help.com) reaches thousands of students every month.

Helpful but poorly designed...

If we are just looking at content, this book is awesome. I have been using it to supplement my Statistics textbook. I am not a math whiz and my textbook only provides minimal problems and then only gives the answers to half of them.

This book gives you problems and then immediate works through the problem step by step. I usually cover up the solution, work through the problem on my own, then skim down to see if I was correct. If not, I can compare my steps with the book steps and see where I've erred. As there are multiple problems for each concept, you have several tries to master the material.

Unfortunately, some of the text is normal iBook text which can be modified and some of it is contained in image files. This leads to choppy reading since the font and size of the text differ. Also some of the text is embedded in image files also containing the tables and formulas. Sometimes, the text is cropped out of the image so you cannot read all of it.

Even with these problem, the book is still quite usable. When the cost of an eBook is equal to the hard copy, I do expect the quality to match. In this case it does not. However, this has been the best book I've found to help me succeed in statistics. This is the ONLY reason I have given this book as many stars as I did.

My advice is: Buy the print version!
