The I Hate L.A. Campaign

Opinions and essays, no. 3

Publisher Description

When I first arrived in New York City in 1978 with a Masters degree in Journalism, I was hoping to get a job with the New York Times. So the first thing I did upon arrival was spell out my plan for saving the city from bankruptcy, a plan I felt sure would get published and put me in good favor with the paper's Managing Editors. Unfortunately, the piece was rejected, albeit with the word: "Sorry" on the rejection slip.
