Everyone has secrets in this electrifying thriller. Everyone. Ex-con Matt Hunter has proudly rebuilt his life and is now happily married to his wife, Olivia, who is pregnant. But when someone sends Matt compromising old photos of Olivia, he is pushed into the center of a treacherous blackmail scheme that only gets more harrowing with each new twist. As the vicious plot spins into a full-on murder mystery, Harlan Coben’s plain-talk dialogue makes the story feel frighteningly real. Coben consistently keeps us guessing, which is, after all, his specialty. Matt may not be perfect, but his flaws make him an even more compelling hero. We were rooting for him to put an end to this adrenaline-soaked nightmare—and to make it out alive.
