The Invasion The Invasion

The Invasion

Publisher Description

This is the tale of Terry the cane toad who travels on a ship from Hawaii bound for Australia. He is one of the first cane toads introduced to Australia. Unfortunately, there is an evil cane toad who tries to convince him that they are going to take over the country. Terry tries his best to stop this happening…but history has shown that he failed. This is a great little narrative that combines good storytelling with factual knowledge about the introduction of an invasive species.

In 2015, the Feral Animals Enviro-Stories program provided kids from central New South Wales, Australia, with the opportunity to write and illustrate stories about feral animals and their impacts on both biodiversity and agriculture. Schools were supported by technical staff from local organisations to help them learn about their feral animals. This project has resulted in ten books being published, printed and distributed as well as interactive books developed. This book was prepared by a student from Forbes Public School with support from Central West Local Land Services and Invasive Animals CRC.
