Fine Collection of Complex SF
The complexity of Wolfe’s stories can turn away some readers, but if you are patient (and if you have read other fantasy and science fiction), his stories offer big payoffs if you enjoy well-written prose, unreliable narrators, meaningful allusions, and creative structure. Wolfe’s work only gets better with multiple readings. In this volume especially look for the title story, “The Eyeflash Miracles,” and “The Doctor of Death Island.”
