Beginning of a series
This book is a set up for a series on the Herbert family. It is not as good as most that Ms Hendrickson has written. I don’t know if it is the actual writing or if it is poor editing for the e-book. There are abrupt changes in dialog and in the mood of the characters. The heroine is mostly admirable, but then she often seems unreasonably irritated. Perhaps some transition sentences or scenes have been accidentally omitted. Nevertheless, it does start a new series of related stories about the daughters of the local rector, with each getting her own story. The next is Lord Nick’s Folly. He is the younger brother of the hero in this book. After that is Pursuing Priscilla, Drusilla’s Downfall, Tabitha’s Tangle, then the Madcap Heiress (about the brother). I have enjoyed most of this author’s series of stories. Hopefully, this one will improve (or at least the editing).
