Good read with a dash of suspense
Took me a bit to realise it’s basically 2 books in 1. Great writing as usual and kept me engaged, but seemed to be rather predictable at times. Good read!
A tale of two books
The Jailhouse Lawyer and The Power of Attorney, both have female protagonists. Powerful women in the courtroom. Perhaps a bit too emotion on the sleeves but powerful and passionate for the law in both.
Patterson is a fantastic storyteller. The Jailhouse Lawyer sets the tone for a courtroom drama that doesn’t happen. Characters driven by anxiety and driven by holding to truth or criminality, the reader waits to see who is held responsible as shoes start to drop.
In Power of Attorney, the protagonist has a lot to learn about her role as a defender of those accused. Unearthing the unknown and much not wanting to know. Her back story is intertwined with small town familiarity as she reinserts her life back home after several years absence.
Each character has more to give.
I haven’t read James Patterson before(I know, where have I been) but I am so glad to have discovered him now. I hope to read so many more stories like these that hopefully have deeper dives into the characters themselves.

When you start this, plan to read until the end. I couldn’t put it down. Exceptional.
